ChatGPT dots availability by plan, region and device

Access to dots depends on three things at once: your ChatGPT plan, where your account is, and which device you use to set it up. OpenAI spreads these rules across a help article, the release notes and the launch post. This page puts them in one place.

A few points behind the matrix:

• “Eligible markets” is OpenAI’s phrase. OpenAI hasn’t published a country list for dots, so we don’t guess one here. The only exclusion it names is the EEA, Switzerland and UK, and only for Pro.
• “Not listed” is not the same as “never.” OpenAI’s launch materials say “We plan to expand dots to more users soon,” without a date or plan names. On the ChatGPT pricing page, Dot is checked only in the Pro column among personal plans.
• Business Premium is named specifically. OpenAI hasn’t said anything about other Business tiers, so don’t assume a standard Business workspace has access.

Other requirements

1. You must be 18 or older. OpenAI’s safety FAQ says dots are not yet available to users under 18.
2. Enterprise needs an admin. The beta is off by default. OpenAI’s Enterprise and Edu release notes didn’t include dots-specific admin steps when we checked. See Enterprise admin setup.
3. Expect a staggered rollout. OpenAI says access “may take several days to reach your account.” The help center also carries a banner that some newly announced features may not be available to your account yet.

The announcement also names Teams as a place to message your dot. The help center doesn’t yet document a Teams setup, so we’ve left it out of the table until it does.

Texting is its own, smaller beta

Texting has tighter limits than dots overall. According to the help center, it uses a third-party provider and is offered as a limited beta. It is limited to Pro users in the US, it isn’t available in Business or Enterprise workspaces, and access “may not be available to every Pro user.” You set it up from the desktop app. Details are in texting your dot.

Quick eligibility check

If you are not sure whether you should have access yet, run through these in order:

1. Plan. Are you on Pro, Business Premium, or an Enterprise workspace where the admin has enabled the beta? If not, you won’t see dots yet.
2. Region. On Pro, is your account outside the EEA, Switzerland and the UK? If not, Pro doesn’t include dots at launch.
3. Age. Are you 18 or older?
4. Device. Are you looking in the ChatGPT desktop app or ChatGPT on a desktop browser? Setup isn’t available on mobile.
5. Time. If all of the above check out, the gradual rollout may simply not have reached you. OpenAI says this can take several days.
