Dots are always-on agents in ChatGPT, launched by OpenAI on September 29, 2026. Your dot has its own cloud computer, works across the apps you connect, remembers context, and keeps making progress between conversations, checking in with you on decisions that need your judgment.

Dots are rolling out gradually to Pro users outside the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the UK, and to Business Premium users in all supported ChatGPT regions. Enterprise workspaces can try a beta once an admin turns it on. You must be 18 or older.

Your first dot is included in Pro and Business Premium at no extra cost. For the next month, dots usage won't count toward eligible plan allowances; OpenAI says it will share usage terms for each plan after that.

No. You create your dot in the ChatGPT desktop app (also available on Windows) or in ChatGPT on a desktop browser. After that, you can talk to it in the ChatGPT mobile app. Mobile web is not supported.

At launch you start with one primary dot that you can name and customize. OpenAI says that in the future you will be able to add more dots, but it hasn't said when or at what price.

Not at launch. OpenAI's help center says your dot cannot initiate calls to you, and you cannot give it its own standalone email address. You can call your dot, and you can connect your personal email.

Yes. OpenAI says your dot receives memories from ChatGPT and can create its own memories, including from connected apps. You currently can't view or delete individual dot memories; deleting the dot removes its own saved memories.

Not on Pro at launch. OpenAI says Pro access excludes the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the UK. Business Premium is described as available across all supported ChatGPT regions.

No. OpenAI says conversations with your dot don't count toward your ChatGPT usage limits. Tasks your dot starts or manages in Codex or ChatGPT Work do count toward your usage limits as usual.

OpenAI says that for the next month, dots usage won't count toward eligible Pro, Business and Enterprise plan allowances. It hasn't published an exact end date, and says usage terms for each plan will follow.

OpenAI hasn't said. The pricing page shows Pro with three usage tiers and lists Dot among Pro features, but doesn't break it down by tier. The release notes confirm Pro 200 at $200/month.

Not at launch. OpenAI lists dots for Pro, Business Premium and an Enterprise beta. On the ChatGPT pricing page, Dot is checked only in the Pro column among personal plans.

OpenAI says “We plan to expand dots to more users soon.” It hasn't said which plans or when, so any date you see elsewhere is speculation.

Only if you're in an eligible market outside the EEA, Switzerland and the UK. Even then, OpenAI says the rollout is gradual and access may take several days to reach your account.

For teams, yes. Business Premium includes dots across all supported ChatGPT regions, and Enterprise workspaces can try the beta once an admin enables it.

No. OpenAI says you cannot currently create a dot on mobile, and dots are not supported on mobile web. Create it in the ChatGPT desktop app or on desktop web, then talk to it in the ChatGPT mobile app when mobile access is available.

OpenAI's announcement says dots can connect to over 4,000 apps through its plugin ecosystem. The help center adds that available apps may differ, so check the Plugins screen for your account.

No. OpenAI says disconnecting stops new access but does not delete information your dot has already built into its context. To delete that information, you need to delete (reset) your dot.

No. Plugin permissions are shared across dots, ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex, and you manage them in ChatGPT's Plugins tab.

Not at launch. You can connect your personal email, but OpenAI says you cannot give your dot its own standalone email address yet.

OpenAI's help center documents the mobile path: open your dot's profile, then Customize → Custom rules. From there you can review the default rules or add a new one.

Your dot may take the action only if you explicitly asked for it in your prompt. A general go-ahead earlier in the conversation, or approval of a different message, does not count.

No. OpenAI says the most sensitive actions, such as changing a password or transferring money, always require you to take over. Custom rules cannot turn off these core safety requirements or the Auto-review system.

No. OpenAI notes that a dot can make mistakes, including when following your rules. Treat rules as a boundary, and still review consequential work before relying on it.

Open your dot's profile and go to Scheduled. OpenAI says tasks are listed there as active, paused or completed, and you can open one to change its repeat schedule, time or completion notifications.

They are deleted. OpenAI says reset deletes your dot, including its conversations, saved memories and scheduled tasks.

It depends on your custom rules. An action counts as pre-approved only if you explicitly requested it, and OpenAI lists recurring messages as something you can approve in advance. Approving one message does not give ongoing permission.

Not yet. OpenAI says you currently cannot view, delete or directly modify individual dot memories. The only documented way to delete your dot's own saved memories is to delete (reset) your dot.

No. Turning off Memory in ChatGPT stops the sharing between ChatGPT and your dot, but it does not delete information your dot has already received.

No. OpenAI says files, Codex threads and ChatGPT conversations your dot created are stored separately and are not deleted when you delete your dot. Your ChatGPT memories also remain.

OpenAI says your dot's context does not retain credentials, images or screenshots.

No. Pause is reversible from your dot's profile with “Paused • Tap to resume.” Reset deletes your dot, and you then create a new one on desktop.

No. OpenAI says access to your local computer is optional and starts turned off. Your dot works on its own cloud computer until you allow access.

Use the ChatGPT desktop app on the computer you want to connect and choose Allow access. OpenAI has not published a more detailed click path yet.

Yes. OpenAI's help center names a Revoke access control alongside Allow access.

OpenAI says this needs two things: your computer connected to your dot, and operating-system permission for the ChatGPT app. If either is missing, those inputs are unavailable.

Reply STOP to stop outgoing texts, per OpenAI's help center. That applies to texts only; pausing or resetting your dot are separate controls in its profile.

OpenAI says to use desktop to connect messaging channels such as Slack or texting. The texting setup connects your phone from the ChatGPT desktop app.

Texting uses a third-party provider, and OpenAI advises you to exercise caution when sharing sensitive information through text messages.

No. OpenAI says Enterprise users can try the beta when their workspace admin enables it, and that it is initially turned off by default.

OpenAI has not documented it. The Enterprise and Edu release notes we checked on September 30, 2026 contained no dots-specific admin instructions.

OpenAI's privacy FAQ says Business, Enterprise and Edu data is not used for training by default. It also says human review may occur in limited circumstances.

No. They are separate products from different companies. Both are described as personal agents that keep working in the background on their own cloud computer, but dots live inside ChatGPT and run on GPT-6 Astra, while Muse lives in the Muse app and WhatsApp and runs on Muse Spark.

Meta says Muse is free for most of what people need, with subscription plans for people who want to do more, and it is rolling out in the US. Dots are not part of the free ChatGPT plan: they are rolling out to Pro, Business Premium and Enterprise (beta) users in eligible markets.

No. Grok Bot is a separate product from SpaceXAI. Its FAQ lists SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus and Heavy; Cursor Pro, Pro+ and Ultra; Cursor Standard and Premium Teams; and Enterprise. Dots are a ChatGPT feature for Pro, Business Premium and Enterprise (beta) users.

Not yet. OpenAI says you start with your primary dot, and that in the future you will be able to add more dots. Grok Bot already supports multiple Bots and group chats between them.

The Grok Bot FAQ lists desktop (macOS or Windows) and the iOS app. OpenAI refers to the ChatGPT mobile app without naming platforms: you create your dot on desktop, then talk to it on mobile. Mobile web is not supported.
